Fort Lauderdale, FL Homeowners Insurance
Homeowners coverage is intended to cover the expenses of repair or replacement if your property or possessions are lost, damaged or destroyed following a covered incident. Covered incidents generally include fire, severe weather, theft and vandalism. Flood and certain windstorm or hurricane policies must be purchased separately.
While homeowners insurance is not required by law if you own the home outright, if you need a mortgage to buy it, the lender requires it as a condition of the mortgage. If you purchase homeowners insurance when buying a home using a mortgage to finance the purchase and then allow the homeowners policy to lapse, the lender will force place homeowners insurance on your home and adjust your escrow payments accordingly to pay for it. Force placed homeowners insurance is usually more expensive than what Floridian Coastline Insurance can provide. So never let your homeowners insurance lapse if you have a mortgage.
